Mo Yan, a contemporary Chinese writer, who won the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature, is a great option for an author theme read. I am currently reading Big Breasts and Wide Hips. It is wonderful! He also wrote : The Garlic Ballads, The Republic of Wine, Shifu (a short story collection), You'll Do Anything for a Laugh, Life and Death are Wearing Me Out and Red Sorgham. This is an author worth paying attention to. What do you think?

You may want to read this thread about preparing for 2013 and post your idea there. Also, in the Reading Globally group, our currently quarterly theme read is on China and its regoion.
