I just have this thread to keep track of the books I read during the year, I only got to read 25 books last year, I'll try to read more this year (hopefully).

I finished one of the books I started reading last year, The Hero of Ages which was the last one in the Mistborn trilogy, it was good but not great.

Books read: 1

#3: Thanks Ameise!

#4: You were early for the Chinese new year :P!

I just finished Gone Girl, I started this book because I thought the story sounded good, after I began reading it I felt the characters weren't fully fleshed, they felt fake, I wanted to like them I really did, I read wanting to know what happened at the end and after finishing it I hated the ending. Not a book I would ever recommend.

Books read: 3

P.S. On the bright side the next book will look more than great.

I love Anna Karenina, as well. But I like lots of Russian authors. War and Peace was also a great read but much longer than Anna Karenina. I have come to love the story of Kitty and Levin more than the story of Anna and Vronsky.

My daughter got me to the World War Z movie. I don't usually watch zombie movies, but I made it through ok. I have never seen The Walking Dead, but it is certainly popular. I had no idea that the show came from graphic novels.

#28: I love a good zombie movie/book/comic, billie! But I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I finished reading The Death Cure which was ok, I didn't love the series but not every work can be a masterpiece of writing. On the other hand, I finished A Conspiracy of Kings and thought it was amazing, I still prefer the third one in the series but the fourth one lived up to the expectations of it.

I finished reading The Cuckoo's Calling and I loved it, I liked this novel better than The Casual Vacancy, it was not the writing of Vacancy that bothered me, it was the story, it was not the kind of story I like to read. But Cuckoo's Calling is a mystery which grabbed me right at the beginning and I couldn't put it down till I finished. Rowling is indeed a great writer.

I finished reading Night Film: A novel, the beginning was good and the setting was great but the ending was all over the place and didn't feel at all satisfying.

I also read the three prequel stories to The Returned: The first, the sparrow and the choice. All very enjoyable and I will count them as one book read.
