Heh! Meant to get my thread up the first week of the year - and I ended up getting bronchitis (aggravated by my asthma) instead :P. As a result, I've got a slower start than I'd hoped for, but it's good to be back! Hopefully I can spend more time here in the lt community this year :). The last couple of years I mostly ended up just using this as a list for my own reference.
Also this year, I'm trying to do a review (or at least a few notes) for every book I read :D.
Currently reading:

City of Ashes

City of Bones - YA paranormal romances are a guilty pleasure of mine, so I'd had this on my to-read list for a while, but I bumped it up when I saw the trailer for the movie :P. It was actually lots of fun! I love the relationship between Clary and Luke in particular, though Alec and Isabelle interested me more as characters, I think. The pacing did lag in a few places, and the confrontation at the end was a bit disappointing, but I'm still keen to finish the series :).
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Chronicles: Art & Design - I wasn't sure if I should count this, since it is more of a coffee table book really, but eh. It's a fascinating look behind the scenes for the design of the Hobbit. I've been an avid Rings fan since before the first movies came out, and I love finding out about the thought process behind the look and feel of Jackson's movies. Well worth the buy for any Rings geek out there.

Hi there, just stopping in after seeing your post on the introductions thread. When you say soccer, what kind of soccer are you watching? MLS, Premier League, other? I used to follow Italy's Serie A, but I've fallen out of the habit in the last year or so. I've been to a handful of Rapids games (I live in Denver), but I wouldn't say I really follow them.
Welcome!

:D. Heh, I will watch pretty much anything, as long as there's a good game on. I'm half Mexican and spent a lot of time over there when I was younger, and my cousins instilled in me a huge love of the Mexican Liga (go Tigres!), which is still my main - uh, sports fandom, I suppose? I watch as much of it as I can, though work and RL have interfered the last couple of seasons.
I also watch quite a bit of the EPL and the Spanish Liga (Liverpool and Real Madrid, respectively) and, when I have time left over from all that, I try to keep abreast of Germany's Bundesliga (I like Schalke, from what I've seen). My ex also got me into Portuguese footie as well - she was a lifelong fan of Sporting Lisbon, and I still have a soft spot for them). I watch a bit of Serie A now and then too - a friend of mine is a diehard AS Roma fan, so I am somewhat acquainted with the league.
I actually have not watched that much of the MLS, unfortunately, though I've caught a few really good matches here and there.
Heh, I'll hush now - I could talk about footie for hours - but thank you very much for the welcome!

I'm a fan of Real Madrid as well! I miss following the games, but time is often at a premium and I don't really miss getting up at 5 AM to watch them, I'll admit. MLS is fun in the sense that it's nice to be able to see live soccer, but the level of play is not always there.
Happy reading!

Thanks, xymon81 :). And TinaV95, the movie's coming out sometime in the fall, I think :).
Welp, reading's going quite slowly as RL issues keep taking up most of my evenings/days off, but I managed to get through:
Dead Man's Folly - Unfortunately, I glanced at a massive spoiler when I was checking the pagecount, but it was still a really fun read :D. It was differently structured than some other Christies, with more buildup before the murder and, unlike in a lot of other mysteries, once the murder did happen you didn't get a lot of suspects with motives or whatnot; there were quite a few red herrings, but the solution came pretty suddenly and lacked some buildup, I think. Overall, though, I still enjoyed it, and it was a very quick read.
