February Book of the month

Actually, this month there isn't one, mainly because I spent three weeks reading Moby Dick as I knew what it was about but had never read it. It was quite a struggle but a change from some of the lighter works this month.
The hand that first held mine by Maggie o'Farrell has been recommended but the two-period family drama had too intrusive a storyteller for my taste.
Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz was taken out of the library because I had read and enjoyed a later 'Odd Thomas' book. Fast paced thriller about a man who sees ghosts. He has a lovely turn of phrase and it was enjoyable and satisfying.
Adrift on the Sea of Rains by Ian Sales (LT) This was one of the reasons I asked for a Kindle. It was Science Fiction with a moral. Technical detail made the situation seem frighteningly realistic, but I found it more of a warning than a story.
Forever Odd What I believe is the second Odd Thomas book and I shall be quite happy to search for the rest. His main character has such a strong voice and the story was structurally sound with a fascinating villainess.
I have just put two more books onto my kindle so hope I find a gem next month.

Sorry it's taken me a few days to get my books posted.
Youth-YA
The Hobbit - been reading this aloud to my kids and finished up this month - delightful!
Willow: Blood Vine Series - free ebook - was o.k.
Aurora Sky - another free ebook that was better
Vampire Way - free ebook that didn't work for me
Secret of the Andes - working on my Newberry challenge again
... and now Miguel - ditto
The Outsiders - my son read for English class and I re-read so I could help him
Non-Fiction
Shot: Staying alive with diabetes - got through the Early Reviewers program - was interesting because my husband has type 1 diabetes.
Voluntary Madness - interesting look at mental health
AudioBooks
Slummy Mummy - chicklit, amusing but forgettable
The Lunatic Cafe - paranormal series, mostly amusing
Everything Else
Imaginary Jesus - thought provoking
The Witch of Agnesi - pretty good mystery
Back to U - more chicklit, although I liked the exploration of re-discovering oneself
A Teaspoon of Earth and Sea - slow moving but interesting exploration of character - set in Iran
Major Pettigrew's Last Stand - read for bookclub and really enjoyed it
Return of the King - finished up The Lord of the Rings - so glad I re-read it
Life of Pi - after all the hype, I decided to read. I liked it until the end and then I didn't. I keep thinking about it, so I guess that makes it worth a read right there.

I read a bunch of so-so stuff this month - Major Pettigrew's Last Stand and The Return of the King and The Hobbit were the bright spots.
