O.K., people. Since you all don't seem to want to discuss books, how about your latest project? Anybody working on anything from your library? At the moment, I'm working on the baby mat from the new Crochet Today mag. Also, planning to try out some of the things from my Japanese books. And, Kim, I did up some of the coasters from your book Teach Yourself Visually: Crochet and used regular old twine for the middle and "kitchen" cotton for the edge. Came out great!

So great to hear you enjoyed making the coasters! Cecily will be thrilled. :)
Since I'm always up for discussing books, it's no surprise lots of the stuff I'm crocheting is *for* books. But I'm also working up a pattern from One Skein for my secret pal and I'm really enjoying it. The work stuff will keep me busy for the next few weeks, then I'll be glad to have some free stitching time again.

I'm working on a multicoloured baby blanket from Adorable Crochet for Babies and Toddlers, which is about as simple as you can get and gives me a chance to practice all the techniques I've learned so far...

I just finished up the green purse in Stitch N Bitch Happy Hooker. It was so easy! I love the book, too. Great patterns.

Made up a trial Creativity Basket from Crochet Today! with some left over yarn. Ran out of one color three quarters through, so its a two toned model. Also midway through a pineapple squares afghan from a 1979 Leisure Arts leaflet pattern.

Oops sorry if a double post shows up from me. I think I successfully deleted it, though. ;)

I'm just finishing up my first project a washcloth, just a good way to practice even stitches and even tension. Next I'm going to make a headband which I think I can make up my own pattern (like I did with the washcloth). Or I might try a small "amulet" type bag - which will make me practice switching colors and keeping track or crocheting in the ROUND. I've seen a number of easy patterns on the web as well as one out of a book I believe it was the "Eye-catching Crochet: Fashion Accessories You Can Make".
Then I've got a southwestern looking scarf pattern. And eventually I'm going to do a long jacket/coat from the book "New Ideas for Today's Crochet"

Ooops just hit a key + everything disappeared, sorry if this gets repeated. As I was saying, a southwestern scarf pattern sounds nice but I don't know what that means. I'm still trying to understand how something I worked years ago and lost the pattern to was done. It was a curtain edging. All I have is a teeny photo but no detail to recall. Apart from that I'm hoping to lay my hands on a Doris Chan book sometime soon. Ah well, back to scrutinising a photo from all angles.

I'm working on a crochet version of the W2004-5 Vogue Knitting mag’s felted rose purse (copy link below if you want to see a pic of the Vogue purse -- it's fantastic!).

I'm working on the Boteh Scarf from the Spring 2007 Interweave Crochet. It's a beautiful project! I just got the yarn in for Violet Beauregard from The Happy Hooker: Stitch 'n Bitch Crochet so that will be my next project!

My new year's resolution was to finish my as yet unfinished crochet projects.
The new year will need an extra 10,000 days or so, but so far I have:
completed the pineapple skirt in Doris Chan's "Exploded Lace>"
nearly completed a sweater from Better Homes and Gardens "Crochet for Everyone" (I need to find the rest of the yarn in my yarn annex)
begun assembly of a rug featured in Anne Halliday's classic "Decorating with Crochet." (It employs a joining technique I have never used before, but which I think is way cool.)
Felted the messenger bag from "Crochet Me: Designs to Fuel the Crochet Revolution." (If I had this to do over, I would slip stitch the ends of the bag so they would hold their shape better in the felting process.
And at the moment I am completing the "Attic Windows" afghan the from "Vanna's Favorite Afghans."

I've got about ten WIP in all and am in the midst of forcing myself to pick a WIP and finish it to the end, blocking and all. So far I've FO about five projects this week, I posted them on Ravelry http://www.ravelry.com/projects/anitalite
At this very moment (well, as soon as I get off the 'puter!) I am finishing the Delicate Crocheted Butterfly, a vintage pattern I got here:
http://crochetdoilies.com/crochet_butterfly.html
I also finally wrote the pattern and photo tutorial for a post stitch scrubbie that is super fast to make and looks beautiful. I give scrubbies away to just about anyone who'll take them, they are a great way to let someone know they are special to you. (The pharmacist, a friend, Mom's hair dresser, a very nice grocery store cashier and box boy, etc. even my own sister. lol)
I have made 8 Fat Bottom Bags from The Happy Hooker, and have had a great time making each one special and unique with different linings, handles, and embellishments. I think I've posted most of them on my blog here:
http://anitalite.blogspot.com
(just scroll through "Past Beauties and Blunders" and you'll find several posts for Fat Bottom Bags and a tutorial on how to line the bags.
What else. Trish Kristoffersen doilies (2 or 3), a gang of snowflakes that all need to be starched and blocked, Short And Sweet (also from The Happy Hooker) and a Lacy Jacket (on the Caron site at
http://www.caron.com/projects/ss/ss26_lacy_jacket.html
)
but I'm having a lot of trouble with it for some reason. The Lacy Jacket was going along great --- until I got to the right front panel and now I'm confused and now it sits in one of my Trader Joe's "green bags" awaiting my attention. I was so excited to start the jacket (has a camisole that goes with it) and was happy about the way it was going. I've never made something to wear besides a scarf. I thought if I could make a Double Pineapple Doily and so many other intricate decorations, I ought to be able to make a stinking sweater for crying out loud! sheesh. I'll have to pick it back up but not till after I finish off something I know isn't going to give me a lot of trouble.
(That's me, taking the easy way out! lol)
