I am joining in this challenge midway through the year, but I think I can still do it. I am listing the books I have read this year (in alphabetical order) without reviews. I will pick up doing some reviews from here on out. Since I will be going on vacation beginning TOMORROW!!!!, I will be able to make up some ground with my tbr pile.
1. Adelaide Piper by Beth Webb Hart
2. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
3. At the Villa of Reduced Circumstances by Alexander McCall Smith (the last in a 3-part series)
4. Cotton by Christopher Wilson

Some of these were in my tbr pile, and others were from a book club. My top picks for the year so far in no particular order (because that would be way too difficult) are:
Mistress of the Art of Death
The Thirteenth Tale
The Lost Mother
A Dirty Job
The Parasites
Although, I can honestly say I have enjoyed all of the books I have read this year. I normally don't finish a book if I don't like it. I follow Nancy Pearl's advice of the Rule of 50. For people 50 and younger, if you don't like the book after 50 pages, don't finish it. For those over 50, subtract your age from 100 and that is how many pages you should give a book before deciding whether to continue or not. I think this is pretty good advice considering my growing tbr pile!

I loved The Thirteenth Tale too - not surprisingly that we both did like it, considering how many books we have in common!

So true! I check in at your library often to see what you're reading.

Have you read The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon yet? If you like The Thirteenth Tale, you may really like this book too. You can check out my review if that's helpful at my blog.

I haven't read it, but it's currently in the pile by my bed. I'll definitely check out your blog. Thanks!

O.K., I didn't get as much reading done as I would have liked while on vacation, but I have added two more to me list for the year. They are about as different as night and day. But, I like to read different things. I get bored reading the same types of books all the time. I will have to pick up the pace if I am going to make it to 50 by the end of the year! I still have two weeks off work, so maybe I can put a dent in my tbr pile.
