The Black Pirate - Mortimer Wilson's music.

The 1926, Douglas Fairbanks, silent movie 'The Black Pirate' is available to watch on YouTube. I'm certain I've never seen any of the film before today.

Can anyone suggest why Mortimer Wilson's music for the film, especially that over the opening credits, is so maddeningly familiar to me? Was it later used for something else (if so, IMDb doesn't list it), or did old Mortimer shamelessly rip it off from some classical piece?

I'd be almost willing to swear I have it among my CDs or vinyl, except I know, absolutely, I have no recording with 'Mortimer Wilson' on the cover. In fact, I'd be ready to swear that the opening title music is not Wilson's at all, whatever IMDb says - if I could only work out what I think it really is.

Of course it is! (Slaps forehead) I was on YouTube this morning playing all sorts of orchestral and string pieces by Mendelssohn, Elgar ... I never once thought of Grieg - never crossed my mind. In my defence, I actually don't own a recording - I was wrong there. It is a piece with which I'm quite familiar, though - a very long senior moment, there, I think.
