Like most of us in this group, I have a thing for lists and books. However, unlike a lot of you, I have a L-O-N-G way to go until I hit 1001. I thought about waiting to create a thread until I have more books read, but then I figured what the hell? Maybe this will motivate me to read more from this list rather than just picking up books at random. I have also decided to follow the complete list. Looking forward to lots of (hopefully) good reads to come :)

HAPPY READING!

Planned Reads:

I am joining the Group Read for November of The Woman in White. I have also joined other group reads in 2014 for The Thousand and One Nights and Bleak House and I have Crime and Punishment, The Count of Monte Cristo, David Copperfield, War and Peace, Heart of Darkness, Gone With the Wind, Life of Pi, and Elegance of the Hedgehog sitting on my TBR shelf.

I also realized as I was going through the list that there are probably about 15 books on there that I read in high school but cannot remember so those will be re-reads.

Welcome watson!

A really interesting opening list you've got there! Looks like you enjoy your crime fiction. I read The Black Dahlia recently which might be up your street. Very noir!

That's also a cracker of a TBR list for next year...get all the chunksters done early!

As a double motivation can I interest you in being added the the progress index here?

Happy reading!

Thank you Jonny!

As I was writing my list of TBR for next year I realized the same thing and wondered what I got myself into. You can add me to the progress index - that should keep me in check for the year!

Just finished the The Woman In White and absolutely loved it. I downloaded the free version onto my Kindle but will probably invest in my own copy. I'm not going to lie - the fact that I finished this book before the end of the month makes me even happier. I'm a slow reader and this being a chunkster of a book had me nervous. I'm ready for the next group read for December!

In the spirit of Christmas I read A Christmas Carol. I have no idea as to why I've never read it before - maybe because I've seen the movie so many times. Anyways I loved the story and I really liked the way Dickens wrote the book, as though he were narrating personally to you and giving his own opinions on certain happenings. Very entertaining.

Now onto Roots of Heaven.

So after a 2 1/2 month hiatus, I am trying to get back on track. Life has been hectic lately which I will allow as an excuse this time. Right before Christmas my husband and I found out we were pregnant (yay!), but shortly after the Christmas holiday all those wonderful first trimester symptoms began. Primarily these included fatigue and morning and evening sickness. Fun times. I was so wiped out and felt so awful that I could not concentrate on a book at all. So I just gave up. In February I was unexpectedly laid off of work so job hunting took up most of my time. I am still not working which gives me plenty of time to read. Hopefully I can put a dent in the TBR pile.

I just finished Journey to the Center of the Earth. Again, this is one of those books that I have no idea why I never read at an earlier age. For the most part I absolutely loved it. I got a little bored in the middle when they were in the big water cave place but otherwise I found it very entertaining. Not sure what is next in my pile...

Huzzah! Babies all round on this group! Contratulations watson.

When are you due? It sounds like you might be due around the same time that my wife is? We had our dating scan today (WOW, arms/legs/fingers moving around!) and our due date is now 24th September. My wife can fully sympathise with the symptoms you describe...pretty much constant nausea & fatigue which has only just started to wear off. She's also convinced that I have couvade syndrome!

Thank you paruline and Jonny! I am well into my second trimester so I am feeling pretty good. Jonny - we are due Sept. 2nd so a few weeks ahead of y'all.

Sorry arukiyomi - you can just ignore me. I wasn't trying to make a big deal about it. Believe it or not this isn't something I've advertised on Facebook. I like the idea of anonymity here. And I was just trying to make myself feel better for being such a slacker with my reading ;)

It is a big deal and I'm glad that people are taking a bit about RL on their threads. I feel like it makes for tighter communities.
