Bit late in the year to join but I've been looking at the group for a few days. I've been doing a version of this for about three months now; I don't do numbered goals, just do what's possible, and I go according to various themes. The main one is books from the 1001 lists that I already own or have previously tried to read. Other small themes pop up as I go along like particular cultures, countries or decades, or finishing all the Pulitzer winners I've got, or concentrating on the books I got from a particular source or at a certain time.
And this month I started having a go at the books I hadn't finished earlier in 2013; still got quite a few of those for December - don't expect to make it through all of them but hopefully get a few more done.

In November I finished 18 books, only 3 or 4 of which were new.
