In the Elementary episode the Marchioness the writers finally made good on Doyle's biggest gaff in the Holmes cannon. Doyle had done no research on horseracing and suggested a horse could be entered at the last minute with no verification of identity "gentleman's honor" and all that. In the episode Silver Blaze was a valueable stallion out to stud, and secretly dead. A substitute silver blaze was being used for semen sales to unsuspecting breeders. Nice to see the writers of the updated Sherlock Holmes getting it right.
