I absolutely loved this book. I didn't think I would at first, somehow I thought it was going to be something else entirely, but I really enjoyed what it was as a whole.
The petty disputes of the last few weeks melted away and in the end it was all just words and words, she thought, words that melt away easily as soon as you are in a strong enough sun and you are moving. p8
Loved this line.
He loved the desert at this hour. A wild camel nosed its way along the black ribbon of the road, and far off at the opening of the valley a menacing orange light gathered. The fig trees in the garden shuddered as if beaten with sticks, but there was little wind during those moments. The hour or dusk could be tasted, but not seen.
Loved the descriptions, like this one.
I liked the back and forth at the end... but I wasn't sure of the feelings of guilt. I also wasn't sure why the party put me in mind of the Great Gatsby, but I was constantly thinking of those two books as the same in that regard. Haven't seen anyone else compare them, though, so maybe I'm not remembering Gatsby the way I should, because it was a LONG time ago that I read it.
