I was active on BookMooch from January 2008 till March 2011, so that's about 3 years, and in that period I mooched and successfully received 1249 books (+ some bonus books).
In as far as reading those books, I have only scratched the surface of that pile: they are all there on Mount TBR.
While active, I tremendously enjoyed BookMooch. I quit because it took me too much time, cost me too much money and because it was soo successful: Instead of getting rid of books, Mount TBR grew exponentially!
I know for sure that there are a couple of members of BookMooch here on LT, such as Kay, Cariola and Margriet, and probably quite a few more. I think we all participate in some other groups such as 75-challenge or Group Read, etc.
It might be nice to create a thread here within the BookMooch group to list the books - with or without review - that you read which you had originally obtained through BookMooch.
You could set a challenge, to encourage yourself to read more of those books you mooched...
It might be nice for other members to see "their books" again....
It might make this group more lively....
It prolongs the enjoyment you got out of BookMooch...

I'm also a long time BookMoocher, but I've slowed down my mooching quite a bit because of the reasons you mentioned (cost of postage, acquiring too many extra books). If you set up this challenge as a group, I would join.

Hi Madeline,
I don't want to set it up as a separate group.
Since it's all and only about books members have mooched, I think the activity fits perfectly well within this group. Setting up a new group would be a waste of time and effort.
Besides, this group already has 1300+ members. Most likely, all LT members who have books via BookMooch are already here or are aware of this group.

Oh. Okay. The problem that I see for myself is that I don't want to post my book reviews of the year on two different threads. I already do that on the 75 Books Challenge in 20014 thread. Where would I put my BookMooch ticker and comments then?

Some people have objections to cross-posting, some don't.
Another thing you can do, it only post the book, but not the review, and for example mention how many stars you gave it or where the book went after you read it.
Many members of BookMooch wanted their books to find a good home. They might like to know where the books went.

I still have not read the very first book I ever mooched back in 2009. I checked my numbers and out of the 642 mooched books still in my living room I have only read 125 of them. That's worse than I thought.

Out of the 490 books I have mooched, I have read 164. Not too shabby! Of those, I have given away 142 of them.

I don't think that I want to know how many of my mooched books I've read, ignorance being bliss in this case.
I'm mooching fewer books as I'm now outside of the usual mooching grounds and most people no longer send books internationally from the US. Which is probably a good thing, for me, at least. I am mooching German language books to read and have begun the last book I received in 2013. I'll let you know when I finish it and keep track of future mooches that way.
Excellent idea for a thread, Edwin!
