2014 already? How time flies! Last year I aimed for 40 and managed to read 48 books. This year I'm hoping to be able to improve on this a little, but don't want to put too much pressure on myself, so 50 seems a reasonable number.

I'm going for the usual 5 non-fiction and 5 books off the 1001- list again, other than that, I am going to try getting through as many books from my long-term TBR stack as I can rather than buying heaps of new books.

1001 books:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Non-fiction:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Early Review:

Other:
1. Doctor Sleep
2. Sleeping Murder
3. The Collected Dorothy Parker
4. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 Volume 1: Freefall
5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 Volume 2: On Your Own
6. The Cuckoo's Calling
7. Angel & Faith Volume 5: What You Want, Not What You Need

1. Doctor Sleep by Stephen King

It scared me less than I expected it to, but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Good start to the reading year.

3. The Collected Dorothy Parker by Dorothy Parker

Quite surprisingly, I enjoyed many of her short stories more than expected, and many of her poems less than expected. I wish I had read more of the books she reviewed to be able to judge them better, but her style is wonderful throughout. I am confused as to the letters some reviewers refer to as in my edition there weren't any. I guess Penguin didn't deem them interesting enough for the updated edition?

6. The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith

Not outstanding as far as detective stories go, but entertaining enough.
