Hi and welcome to my thread! I am hoping to read a few more books than last year, but grad school insists on stealing almost all of my time!

1. First Test by Tamora Pierce
Wanted to start out the new year with a reread from one of my top 2 favorite authors! (the other being Terry Pratchett. Loved both since middle school and to this day giggle a bit that they happen to have the same initials)

2. Divergent by Veronica Roth
Wanted to finally get around to reading this before the movie came out. Loved it! Sped through it. Some parts were predictable but I really enjoyed the story and the twists and turns involved!

3. Page by Tamora Pierce

Rereads are so great. Glad you enjoyed yours. :)

You're back! Yay! Glad you liked Divergent. I'm planning to get to that one before the movie, too!

Hi, Caitlin, good to have you back.

thanks micky! I have a strong tendency for reread, partly because I often get in very specific book moods and know which one will satisfy my current reading desires! also rereads are my comfort/de-stress books, so you can often tell how stressful/busy my current clinical rotation is by how many rereads I'm doing lol. (There will be a lot in may-june when I have surgery! not a rotation I am looking forward to).

Faith-I did really like divergent! I sped through it a lot faster than anticipated. Now to read the next 2. :)

Thanks Roni! Even though I don't have much free time and don't get on very much I can't imagine going a year without this great group!

>13 catalina7: I know exactly what you mean, Caitlin. I often get book cravings which only a specific title will satisfy.

Trying to work myself up for my first night shift tonight...not good at switching schedules and not looking forward to 13-14 hours overnight at the hospital. just hoping if its slow my eyes aren't too tired to read!

You can do it! *shakes pom poms*

Thanks micky! I need some good pompom shaking! Gotta stay awake and alert tonight and help deliver some babies!

Babies! I like babies! They come with hats. :)

Micky I like that video clip! They DO come with hats, and are "hatted up" quite quickly once they are out!

I survived the night shift! And helped welcome three new people into the world. Even managed to sneak a little reading in ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Caitlin. I'm a long time West Wing fan and I'm forever referencing that scene. Glad you survived the night shift and congrats on helping those three new little ones. :)

thanks Micky!

Finished up my ob/gyn rotation today with a *oh so fun* cumulative exam. Monday I start my psychiatry rotation!

I have managed to finish a couple books, though slowly.

4. Squire by Tamora Pierce

5. The Long Way Home by Sabrina Chase
A recommendation from my dad. And as usual, no matter how reluctant I am, if he thinks I'll like it, I do :) (He is credited with my introduction to both Tamora Pierce and Terry Pratchett).
I read this one pretty quick and am looking forward to the next 2 in the series. It had lots of action and suspense and conspiracy! And didn't end quite as expected, so looking to see what happens next!

23MickyFine
Feb 14, 2014, 11:45 pm

I'm slowly making my way through Tamora Pierce's bibliography. I'm 2/3 of the way through the Beka Cooper trilogy, which I started with first mostly by accident as it was available as an ebook from the library when I went to London last year. I'm planning to read them in-world chronologically unless you think there's a better way to do it?

24catalina7
Feb 15, 2014, 2:28 pm

I haven't read the beka cooper trilogy yet, it's on my list! (I've been putting it off since it has been her last completed new set for awhile and I am going to be sad when I am all up to date lol). I think it may have some small spoilers for future books but I am not sure. I read them in written order- Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, Protector of the Small and then Trickster. I like the Tortall world books better than the Circle of Magic series.

25MickyFine
Edited: Feb 15, 2014, 6:16 pm

So far, I've been reading them fairly spread out so, while I think there might have been some references to Alanna in the first book in the Beka Cooper series, any small spoilers have gone through the brain sieve in the almost year since I've read it. ;) I'll keep your opinion on the Tortall versus Circle of Magic books in mind.

Well, grad school really does just interfere far too much in my reading and LTing! I'm about to start my last week of my last required rotation (i.e. last rotation exam at the end of the week) so hopefully after that will have some time to catch up on my reading and my reading log! After this week, all elective rotations until graduation in December!

Grad school does get in the way of RL. We'll hope to see you survive until graduation and join us next year.

That is certainly my goal! I was hoping that would happen this year, but, alas, twas not to be. Next year hopefully I can actually keep my thread updated and follow others like I used to!

Ok I have given up on recording my books in the order I actually read them but am trying to remember which I've read this year. Because I've been slowly reading the Stephanie Plum series (comfort reads!) and am now on book 14, I know I've read the rest cause I started at the beginning lol. So...

6. One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

7. Two for the Dough

8. Three to Get Deadly

9. Four to Score

10. High Five

11. Hot Six

12. Seven Up

13. Hard Eight

14. To the Nines

15. Ten Big Ones

16. Eleven On Top

17. Twelve Sharp

18. Lean Mean Thirteen

Nov 28, 2014, 11:04 pm

Thanks Amber! (You probably missed it cause finishing up school has stolen my time and I have like 5 books this year lol. And haven't been able to post much on my thread or at all on other's! very sad). It is very exciting and overwhelming all at once! I graduate from physician assistant school with my master's degree next Friday (and will hopefully then have more time to READ again!) and will be starting my job working in pediatric psychiatry in February!

Thanks Paul! Hope you had a lovely Thursday in Malaysia! :)
