I've previously had my yearly reading threads on Club Read but in 2013 I dropped out of keeping up my list. This year I'm hoping to do a better job keeping current.

I'm Caroline, I'm a 39 F Brit currently living and working in Austria. Married with a 3 year old D.

I have a big backlog of January reads due to holiday time and some work travel.

First the paper-books (limited numbers now I have a kindle but this doesn't stop the inbound, getting back to TBR/paper is hopefully a focus this year, when the "buy now" impulse control is somehow applied).
1. Lovestone - Deana James
Historical Romance. R+J/ enemy families slant. H, Rhiannon is captured and dragged behind a horse back to the h's fathers castle. She unties him and is taken prisoner in turn. Quite a long patch of travel back to his lands. OK- (which is 2.5/5).

I started S. and The Bride Wore Black leather over the course of January, hopefully finish them in February.

4. Valiant - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 3. Valiant, a lion hybrid, lives on the reservation part of Homeland. Tammy has an accidental meeting with him then gets kidnapped. OK+.
5. Justice - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 4. Justice is the figurehead of New Species. Not a standout book in the series. OK-.
6. Brawn - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 5. Becca and Brawn get locked up in a cage together, the evil empire/ pharma side have a moment of competence. OK+.
7. Wrath - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 6. Wrath is on the New Species Taskforce, Lauren is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

10. Shadow - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 9. One of the worst of these. Beauty is a gift new species. Meh (2/5)

11. Moon - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 10. Psychiatrist Joy and a drugged Moon. Good but possibly only as its a big step up from the previous one!

12. True - Laurann Dohner
Paranormal Romance/ Erotica. New Species 11. Jeanie thought she was an inside informer at Mercile but there is no record of it. Good

Looks like I've evolved my rating scale now to Meh (2) OK (3) Good (4) and Very Good (5). +/- add or knock off a half point. 1 would be the books I don't finish, don't log to my library and won't bother keeping on kindle or physically if they're paperform.

Romance. Cyborg Seduction 1. Since the New Species were overall fun, I then ran on to all the authors Cyborg ones. Flint and Mira, lots of fuss about the breeding contract groups. OK

Romance. Cyborg Seduction 2. Rena wants to steal a spaceship and ends up caught herself. She knows codewords. Good

15. Melting Iron - Laurann Dohner
Romance. Cyborg Seduction 3. Female mechanic Dawn. OK

16. Stealing Coal - Laurann Dohner
Romance. Cyborg Seduction 5. Number 4 was Touching Ice which I already read out of sequence. Jill is a merc trading on her dead fathers name. She has 3 androids. Coal was the one treated badly by the cyborg women. Good

17. Redeeming Zorus - Laurann Dohner
Romance. Cyborg Seduction 6. Zorus is freed on earth by Charlie. OK

18. Taunting Krell - Laurann Dohner
Romance. Cyborg Seduction 7. Krell is an interrogator, Cyan is chasing Marcus models (bad cyborgs). OK-

19. No ifs, ands or bears about it - Celia Kyle
Paranormal Romance. Wow, 2 other LT members have this book! Were bear child being mistreated by his father gets mothered by a non-shifter. Meh.

20. Storm Force - Susannah Sandlin
Paranormal Romance. Strange set of shifters working as a sort of special ops team including a bird. Kell/ Jack Kellison is their leader and gets involved when a terrorist building blowup is blamed on a hippy chick environmentalist. Meh.

21. Skin Walkers Conn - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Series Order - King - Conn - Leto - Monroe (authors website, with gaps for books still being written). Published order - Conn - Leto - Monroe - King (probably a good enough way to read the series). Aries is on the run, Conn is leader of another of those Special ops teams (there must be millions of these chaps running around tripping over each other according to fiction!). OK+.

22. Skin Walkers Monroe - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Game Warden Eden and Monroe (the CEO) clash over her kids and the haven. Good

23. Skin Walkers King - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Lilly is the PA of Monroe. King is head of security. Good

24. Skin Walkers Leto - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Not the best of the series, Leto misreads Shy. OK-

24. Real - Katy Evans
MMA Romance. Disagree strongly with all the 5 star reviews here on LT. Mine is "Angst, girly gushing angst, girly stressing angst and yet more tedious angst". Agree with the Meh review.

25. Territory - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Kya is turned and abducted by a shifter pack. She escapes and ends up with a larger pack/ meeting her mate. She gets abducted again. OK

26. Territory Prequel - Susan Bliler
Paranormal Romance. Dell and Chloe, following their families disaster as a mate is already married. OK.

27. Hunters Claim - S E Smith
Paranormal Romance. The Alliance 1. Alien is caught/ freed by a young girl with 2 sisters. Taken back to the alien planet. OK.

28. Tinks Neverland - S E Smith
Paranormal Romance. Cosmos Gateway 1. Jasmine "Tinker" Bell uses her friend Cosmos portal and turns up on a spaceship. Fated mates thing is known by circles on the hand. OK

29. Hannahs Warrior - S E Smith
Paranormal Romance. Cosmos Gateway 2. Hannah is the photographer sister. OK-

30. Tansys Titan - S E Smith
Paranormal Romance. Cosmos Gateway 3. Tansy is a spy, lucky she has a bond mate alien hunter thing to come and get her out of trouble then. OK-. Series book 4 is Cosmo (the inventor) himself plus the sister of the aliens (who looks like Dawn French in the cover pic). That one looks fairly pants but the book 5 synopsis looks OK.

And you have a three-year-old? I am beyond impressed that you had this much of a backlog!

Hot under the collar- Katie Blu. Emma can't get Reverend Johns out of her mind. Her bakery makes day-old bread donations. Eric is an undercover cop chasing a drug ring. OK
Incensed- Kate Hill. Cyril allegedly matches soul mates through the use of magical incense. Cori challenges and finds it's him. OK
Making the Madam- Delilah Devlin. Newly widowed Merry Winslow treks west to claim an unexpected brothel inheritance. Nathan Boone helps her adjust. OK
The Emissary- Jenna Reynolds. The potentially hostile Kjartans send an Emissary to the Hegemony, who requests the services of a courtesan. Shina is a virgin courtesan. OK-

January is caught up now and Feb/ March are closer to 30 books so should be able to catch those up soon too.

It's been a busy few months. I interviewed for an internal job in January that still hasn't been appointed. It was between only two people and if the boss I want does end up appointing it, then it should be my job. However, lots of movement in the org. chart at the moment mean this may be a role under a different boss or even a job that disappears. Shame. We will see.
I knew I have been slowly going deaf and assumed it would mean hearing aids so hadn't rushed to fix it but after various hearing tests and a CT scan, it looks like I've got an operable problem. Operation to replace my stapes with a piston in June. It's only a couple of weeks off work but I can't fly for 3-6 weeks.

Onwards to February then.

Romance. Novella, 60 pages at a time, first of 3-part kindle serial. Vanderbilt ER, electricity out, ex-lovers surgeons have to work together. Presumably trying to hook your interest with lots of cliffhangers. I wanted to try to see if this is a good format for me, first indication is not! Poor.

77 Strange Bedfellows pt1 - Kasey Michaels
Romance. Novella, as previous kindle serial. This one a storm mudslide traps Cassandra and Sean in a car. This one was better, but the rest of the serial seem to be about her knowing better than him what to do with his kid. Simplistic earth-mother bollocks that the little-wimminz can understand the kids better than the menz. Poor. Thus ends my interest in kindle serials, buying in parts won't be for me.
