It's going to take a while. When the weather gets nice people take their books outside and forget about LT. But I figured we should start the countdown anyway.

Plus, I'll use just about any excuse to look at Cary Grant.

Well hello there. We re-watched Bringing up Baby recently - such a pleasant way to spend an afternoon!

Roll on 53 :)

WooHoo. We got one!

awww, Herbie is cute but Cary, now that's another story! Hubba hubba.

>4 Bookmarque: Yeah. He was just such a lovely looking man. They don't build many like that.

6Bookmarque
Edited: Apr 29, 2014, 8:22 pm

Plus he was funny and had style. The closest to the type now is probably George Clooney in part. He looks good, dresses well and is also funny. I read an article about him just when Intolerable Cruelty came out that said the stylist or costumier for the movie deliberately modeled his character on Grant. I think it might have stuck.

7clamairy
Apr 29, 2014, 9:21 pm

Yes, he's close. He has that chin. I also think Jon Hamm is close, looks wise. And he proved he could be hilarious when he showed up on 30 Rock. Whatshisface is handsome and can sing and dance, too... that Aussie guy that plays Wolverine. Why am I having a brain fart? Hugh Jackman! (I had to look him up.)

But yeah... Cary was special.

Oh, oh, oh! Where's that beautiful long shot of the pub amongst the green hills? The warm, glowing lights are so welcoming, I always feel as if I'm on my way there. Not that this interior isn't wonderful--but can we have both?

16clamairy
Apr 30, 2014, 4:47 pm

>15 Meredy: We can switch back and forth. The other really should be our Summer photo and this one should be the Winter one. Then again I need to see green more when there is nothing but white and gray out my own window. Also, I'm game for putting up anything nice anyone finds and posts a link to in this thread. We used to have some really fine outdoor pub pictures in one thread, and I can't seem to find any of them.

21SylviaC

But we don't need to wait for a special occasion to have cheese. There's always some around. I've been enjoying some Manchego:

22nhlsecord
May 1, 2014, 12:49 am

Sylvia, what's Manchego taste like? A little while ago I snagged a big, expensive chunk of Parmesan from some kind of prize-sized whole cheese that was cut at the Zehrs store in Owen Sound. I promised myself I would use it frugally in cooking and I have - ONLY because I have been eating it in chunks instead of cooking with it. I love that cheese!

23clamairy
May 1, 2014, 7:51 am

>22 nhlsecord: They are similar. Manchego might be more nutty as it's made with sheep's milk. It's more like a fine Pecorino Romano.

>21 SylviaC: *drool* I'm all out of that right now. I promised myself I'd finish up some of the cheeses I have before I buy any more slabs from Costco.

24SylviaC
May 1, 2014, 8:42 am

Yes, it's more mellow than Parmesan. A lovely flavour. I just eat it by itself, slowly, to make it last.

It is such a challenge to keep up these days! I think the cupboards are almost bereft of marshmallows, and how will we celebrate if we can't shoot off the marshamallow guns? Eh? How, I ask!

Did Morphy's Roombas pig out on the marshmallows? Or was it the Pool Boys? In the bar? In the pool equipment room? Where? Where I ask?

How will we have a party without all the necessary supplies? Oh! oh! bring our own, eh? Hmmmmmm I'll have to think on that.....

But it is a great time for a party, and I agree the new digs look very very attractive!

34MrsLee
May 4, 2014, 2:47 am

May I suggest that we celebrate with some Peeps dioramas? I recently saw some very clever ones, or, some of the more creative folks here could make them. Or are they all gone? Well, the internet is always full of photos.
