Okay, okay, I can hear the groans already. As a very amateur historian I read the occasional Australian political biography. I have found David Day to be a readable author, and very much enjoyed his biographies of Andrew Fisher and John Curtin.

I have a few books of political comment and Downfall by Aaron Patrick is an easy and worthwhile read. For a bit of light reading, and supposedly fictional, try The Marmalade Files by Steve Lewis and Chris Uhlmann.

I am about to start reading Diary of a Foreign Minister by Bob Carr which is autobiographical and is supposed to be very funny for all the wrong reasons according to my daughter who gave it to me for Mothers' Day.

Communism: A Love Story by Jeff Sparrow probably counts – it's a biography of Guido Baracchi, a Communist who should be famous.

I just read the online Australian Dictionary of Biography reference for Guido Baracchi @shawjonathan. Very interesting. I might have to have a look for the book you mentioned.
