From the current newsletter:

"Folio in the USA – editions now available from a range of brilliant booksellers in New York City.
Our editions are now available from selected New York City independent bookstores and premiere cultural institutions. Books of Wonder in the Flatiron District carries a range of children's titles, as does the Reader and Writers Shop at the New York Public Library. Art lovers will find a special array of titles at the Frick Collection on the Upper East Side. Visitors to Chartwell Booksellers in Midtown are sure to be delighted by the wide range of hand-picked fiction and non-fiction editions, as well as the charming window display which features a bookcase filled from top to bottom with Folio Society editions – no doubt a very familiar sight!"

Lucky devils!

If any of these editions go on sale, it would probably end up being a very sweet deal for those in the area.

I was just in the Reader and Writers Shop at the New York Public Library yesterday while visiting NYC and noticed that they had a couple of the Fairy books as well as Peter Pan and Wendy for sale. They also have a Gutenberg bible (not for sale...) which was a treat to look at. The building itself and reading room are marvellous.

That's great. A friend and I have been talking about a trip to NYC just to visit bookstores. (Well, mostly to visit bookstores, and also to go to the theater.) We'll have to make sure to include Chartwell!

The Strand (near Union Square) has a wide selection of used Folios (most of which are $20), nearly all of which are on the right-hand side of the back wall on the first/ground floor. Happy browsing!

I LOVE The Strand, though so far I've only been there once. I picked up a number of good books, including FS's My Early Times by Dickens.
