While not a Decadent, Yukio Mishima is a fascinating literary case study. I have not read any of his works, but he seems analogous to Jean Genet, especially in terms of the snarled sexual and political issues. Like Genet, he was a gay man living in the not-so-tolerant Fifties and Sixties, although his pro-authoritarian beliefs did not make him a darling of the Academic Left (TM).

Not really a fascist per se, he espoused views voicing his opposition to the "decadent West" and a nostalgic yearning for Tojo's ultranationalist, imperialist military junta and the God-Emperor. If anything, Mishima was a Japanese absolute monarchist. Not an easy position to take after Japan's defeat in World War 2.

And one shouldn't forget his failed coup attempt and seppuku. His political ideology and literary talent put him closer to Gabriele D'annunzio, former Decadent, political radical, and tinpot dictator of the Republic of Fiume.
