Hardback Kim

I just finished the first four books of Kim Harrison's series.

I am cheapskate, so I have held off buying the hardback edition of For a Few Demons More, waiting for the paper edition. But I think I am having withdrawal, and am wondering if this was a good decision.

for those of you who did lay the money down, was it worth it, or will it be worth the wait?

Arctic,

I can't answer your question yet, but am wondering if you could answer mine.

I got the 1st 4 books as a lot of ebay and I cannot figure out the order to read them! Shockingly enough, it isn't clear on the book jacket. Can you help me out with the order in which to read them?

Embarassed, but thankful.

GirlMisanthrope,
Here's the reading order for Kim Harrison’s Hollows series:

Dead Witch Walking
The Good, The Bad, and The Undead
Every Which Way But Dead
A Fistful of Charms
For a Few Demons More
The Outlaw Demon Wails (not released yet)

Artic-Stranger,
As far as buying the hardcover for A Few Demons More, I waited a while but eventually gave in and bought it. I really enjoyed it and thought it was worth the money (although I got it for 40% off at Barnes and Noble). I hate when publishers decide to take a series hardcover when an author becomes popular. I would think it hurts their sales rather than helps them because fewer people are likely to buy hardcover.

Thanks so much! And now I am digging into Dead Witch Walking.

In terms of hardcovers, if I am obsessed with a series and really enjoy it, I prefer hard covers. But I would certainly like the option. I guess it wouldn't be cost effective to come out with both forms at the same time. I have the hard covers of Charlene Harris' Sukie Stackhouse series. I was glad the Hollows series was in paperback since I have not delved into it yet.

I think the publishers know once we're hooked, we'll probably cave in for the hardback!

There is an option if you don't want to buy the HC of For a Few Demons More. In the UK they are publishing the series, but haven't gone to HC.

I got mine in PB in April I think (same month as published here in HC). It also cost less than the HC, even with the difference in price. I have a local store that gets UK books, so I didn't have to pay shipping. But check it out on Amazon.UK, I don't think the shipping is that bad.

The only problem is the horrible covers, but its a small price to pay. I plan to watch for info on the new book on Amazon.UK and then order it from my local store. Right now they only have the US HC listed for 3/08.

I get a good number of my books from the UK in PB when they are published here in HC and I don't want to wait. Many now seem to come out there first and in paper.

I got the Sci Fi Book Club edition. I normally wait for paperback, but I just couldn't wait any longer.
