For those within striking distance of the dMR, the so-called naughty trolley is a secret delight. End of run, opened and ex-display books at a standard £15 per volume for members (£20 for the few non-members out there), displayed on one of the central bookcases. Recent scores have included The War of the End of the World, Lost Illusions, Paula Rego's Nursery Rhymes, and Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee. Some have slight bumps or tears to their slipcase but most are still shrink-wrapped in perfect condition. And sometimes the odd non-Folio item is added to the mix.
Very good value - the Vargas Llosa is currently listed at £54.95, so I don't mind that the paper needs sticking down on one slipcase edge - and always worth a look. I keep checking, but Night Thoughts hasn't made an appearance on the trolley yet...

Yes, it's quite easy to locate. Just follow the skid marks from the entrance, but be careful not to fall over cronshaw.

I was in London two weeks ago and had a chance to visit the dMR for the first time. I got Lives of the Engineers in perfect condition form the naughty trolley for only £ 10.

>9 EclecticIndulgence: Folio got a job lot on trolleys from another clinic and found they had a spare one not needed for fainting patients.

Please forgive a (fairly) new FS member an uncontrollable urge to show off:
During my first ever visit to the dMR I picked up the Byzantium set and Durrell's Justine for the grand total of... £20.
5 quid per book, doubt I'll ever do any better.
Btw, my latest raid on the dMR ended up with me pillaging the trolley off the still shrink wrapped Narnia set, Durrell's Clea and Procopius' Secret History. Anyone knows what the retail price of the Narnia set was when it was still in print? Given that it was published in 2012, looks like it sold out very quickly. But I know if it was still available when I joined a couple of months ago, I would have bought it at full price. So just wondering...

Bargains indeed! And a quick look among still to be sorted (to store or to recycle, the borderline hoarder's constant dilemma...) Folio brochures here led me to one for the 2013 Big Set Sale, in which the Narnia volumes were on offer at half their published price, £60 instead of £120.

Thanks for looking that up!
I'm even happier with the purchase then. Considering Clea and the Secret History were £15 each, I paid £30 for the Narnia set.
Must... Go... Back... Eagle street!
The trolley is a good relief for a newly faddicted independent consultant between the projects (ie no income) :)
