We've mentioned some of our favorite locations in the introductions thread. Here's a specific question. Lexington has two Half-Price Books locations. Do you visit both? Do they have different strengths and weaknesses? They aren't that far from each other. I've been to the one at Hamburg Pavilion now several times and found a few treasures.

I have a question about bookstores in our state. I'm from a small town and there is less than five stores where I can get a book signing in, close to my home. Do you know of a great place who would host a book signing?

I'm just up the street from Robie Books in Berea just now. Should I go over and ask?

You all are just so nice!
I know I'm behind on your response, I don't get on here everyday. I say if you are at a store, just ask. I know I will.

I need to make a list of the book stores everyone goes to.

Electric co-op publication, Kentucky Living, features four bookstores around the state this month.

Poor Richards, Frankfort
Lincoln's Loft, Hodgenville
CoffeeTree Books, Morehead
Books on Main, Hopkinsville

Not my part of town. But of course, they all look inviting.

They also mention

Book & CD Hut, Somerset
Dog-Eared Books, Campbellsville
Paducah Books
Pepper's Old Books, Hanson
Words 'N' Stuff, Van Lear

Those with links have been added as book venues already.

On the question of the two Half-Price Books locations in Lexington: I think the location at Hamburg seems to have a better selection of literature, and the Fayette Mall area store has more genre stuff, but honestly, I liked both while I was there. I'd often just go to whichever was closest to where ever else I was going in town.

There also used to be a nice independent bookstore called Wild Fig Books that mostly sold used books. It closed down a few years ago, but I heard that the owners reopened at a different location. I am not sure where, or the name of the store now. I'd be interested to know though, if anyone else knows what I am talking about.
