Believe it or not, it is that time of year again! The annual Joplin meet up is almost here. This year it will be held December 2, 2014. We will meet once again at the Changing Hands Book Shoppe in Joplin at 10am and then head out for lunch together.
The website for Changing Hands is here: http://chbs.tgaming.org/
So, who is coming?

Thanks, Jim!

You know I will be there!
Gosh, I hope that doesn't discourage anyone else from coming....

I'm planning on it, and will also try to rope Mama and sister in, as well.
Last December, I started talking to Becky about maybe joining us for the next one, and it sounded as though she was going to try to make it. But she hasn't posted on her thread for six months now. Do any of you Missourians know her in real life?

I am afraid I cannot help, Cindy. I do not know Becky "in real life," sorry to say. I would love the opportunity to meet her though!
Glad to see that you are coming again. I hope your contingent comes along for the ride.

I have heard from Sandy that she is going to try and come this year, especially since she missed last year's meet up.
9alcottacre
I have heard from BJ and she is hoping to make the trip this year. I am hoping we have a good crew again this year!
11alcottacre
Only 2 more weeks to go!!

I am hoping to make it this year, as long as the driving weather is good. Can anyone recommend a good hotel in Joplin?
14alcottacre
Julia, Terri and I normally stay at the Baymont Inn and Suites. It is nothing fancy, just a place to lay our heads.
It would be terrific to finally meet you in person! I hope you can come.

Thanks, Stasia. I'll check that one out. I don't need anything fancy, either, but I do need a handicapped accessible room.
16alcottacre
I am not sure about the accessibility issue at that particular hotel having never looked into it. I do know that there are elevators throughout, but other than that, I am not aware of anything else. I hope you find a hotel that meets your needs.
17rosalita
They were actually super helpful, Stasia, when I called them. Went out of their way to get me the information I needed to make sure I could book a room that would work for me. Very good customer service!
18alcottacre
Great, Julia! I am glad to hear it. I look forward to seeing you there!
I am leaving at 5am. I cannot wait to get on the road!

Drive carefully, Stasia! I am so excited Julia is coming, too. This should be a fun meet-up. I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone!

>18 alcottacre: Yikes! I am not leaving quite that early, thankfully.

I've encountered changes and shan't be able to come this year. I'll be thinking of you all and the great time I know you'll be having!

Hello all Joplin meet up folk. I am excited for you. I know you will have a wonderful time! It is my hope and prayer that next year I'll be healed, walking, pain free and able to attend. In the meantime, I will hear your laughter in my heart!

#19: I am here already, Donna. Just waiting for the rest of the troops to arrive!
#20: Wimp! :)
#21: Sorry to hear that, Cindy. I hope everything is OK!
#22: It is our hope too, lovey!
#23: Roni, when are you going to make the meet up?

Roni, and others who are interested, I posted the pictures taken with my camera on my thread over here. I'll repost the group picture here. You will have to scroll down to message 230. I can't remember how to link to a specific message. Too bad Mike had to leave early!

Sorry about the poor quality. The lighting was poor and the waitress was willing but shaky!
Left to right: Julia, Stasia hiding, Donna, Brenda, Sandy, Nancy, Terri, BJ.
The states of Iowa, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma were represented!

I LOVE seeing the lists and the picture! (And I'm off to Donna's thread immediately.) I'd know the top of that cap anywhere!
So happy that you get to do this. I can just imagine how great it is!

Roni, I get tired of being a photo bully and cut Stasia some slack yesterday. Terri was also taking pictures. Maybe she got one of our camera shy friend. I am waiting for permission from Brenda to post a picture of our surprise visitor...
33Nancy618
We had such a great time yesterday! Like Terri said, mark Dec. 2, 2015 on your calendars for our Joplin Meet-Up next year...and hopefully even more LTers will be able to join us! It's certainly something I look forward to every year! I usually don't buy many books and this year it was just one...Emotionally Weird by Kate Atkinson. I'm mostly there for the friends, fun and food! Thanks for the pictures, Donna!

I had a wonderful time in Joplin. I bought way too many books and listed them on my thread. I loved seeing everyone!
36Whisper1
What a wonderful time! I really hope to be able to attend next year. I've met Brenda, Stasia and Terri. How lovely it would be to meet all others.

One more picture...posted with permission.

We had a delightful surprise guest. Ollie is Brenda's 14- month-old grandson who popped in with Grandpa Tony to join us at the end of our lunch. What a cutie!
