My name is Jess, I live in Australia. I am a cartographer by trade (Yep I make pretty maps), I am owned by two oriental cats and a very pretty horse. I am not very chatty on other people threads..I prefer to lurk and post the occasional comment but I am on my own thread pretty regularly.

I mainly read Fantasy, Paranormal and the occasional Autobiography.

I am not sure how I will go this year, I have to create, print and pack all of the maps for our 2016 Census so unless the printers break down reading time will suffer. Also me and my horse will be be out heaps of competitions this year...so another distraction from reading.

And below is a list of the best and the worst of 2014 reads.

Best reads of 2014
1. The book of Lost Things by John Connolly - A most excellent read and safe to say one of my all time favorite reads now.

2. Kiss and Tell by Fiona Walker - For pure laughs this book is great, all to do with the equestrian world of Eventing and seeing as its the sport I compete in and I know a few of the people in the book it was a great hilarious read.

3. The Silver Brumby by Elyne Mitchell - This was a collection of I think the first 5 books in the series and I loved them all, swept me back to my childhood and up into the Snowy high Country chasing brumbies!!

Worst reads of 2014
There was only one License to Ensorcell by Katherine Kerr - one of my all time favorite authors but oh god how horrible was the book...I couldn't even finish it..never ever again.

In 2014 I also waded my way through all of the book's in Katherine Kerr's Deverry cycle and I am now 5 book short of finishing Raymond E. Feist's Magician series.

Hi there!
Cartography? How lovely! That one of the things I wanted to work with when I was a kid. I still love maps.

And what a beautiful horse! Oh, I wish I had access to one I could "borrow" now and then. What breed is he?

Hey guys thanks for the warm welcome back to the challenege...I cant wait to see what the year brings in terms of reading and how distracting my pony will be.
Thank you for the nice comments about him...he is an Australian Stock Horse and is 10 years old we tend to do a bit of everything and have three competitions coming up in Jan so most of my reading at the moment is of dressage tests.
