Shows me all book sales in all the local libraries in my area. I get tons of books for next to nothing.

I just joined LibraryThing. I thought you'd find this helpful.

It is, thanks, though at first I read it as 'booksalamander'. But it got my attenetion!

A book salamander would be for those especially fiery books.

Looks like we're being spammed by two new users.

I don't think it is spam at all. It is a very useful free service, which I've subscribed to for years.

Also, it is a suitable post for this group which has threads about acquiring used books. I was glad to be reminded about that website.

And, I thought the thank you post was a nice gesture and should not have been flagged!

I don't suspect sock-puppetry.

I'm really happy to see that there have been enough counter flags to make the post visible again. :-}

Sometimes we're a little too quick to judge (especially before coffee, and I'm speaking of myself).

I noticed member booksalefinder.com has been removed. Unless there's more going on maybe admin should maybe give them another chance.

I assume they look at logs and IP numbers and such before removing someone. If they did it solely based on flagging, I agree with you, varielle.

It's free-to-the-user, so not commercial in that sense. They appear to get their revenue from the ads, some of which we might find useful, all of which we can ignore. But the sale-location grids are very useful, public-service-ish dare I say. If its up for a vote I wd vote for reinstatement.

>12 anglemark: For the record: When a profile is flagged enough times, the process that suspends it is automatic. I doubt strongly that they bother with logs, or IP addresses. That would be hideously time consuming, and the same mechanism that was used here is used on spammers. Automation is the key. Mostly, LT depends on its users to have common sense, and to do the right thing.

I'm probably going to send a comment off to @timspalding later this evening (busy now).

I don't have as much time to go to library sales on the weekends. However, I do still get the alerts from BookSaleFinder.com and it provides a reasonable service. This is perhaps more promotion than we'd prefer but it is a useful tool.
