For those owning the beautiful reprint of the Rutledge 1887 Les Miserables be aware that there is a print error on Volume 1 Chapter 2 Page 7. The over text "T" introducing the chapter is missing. This occurred on all 500 copies according to Easton because it was on the original. I have a picture of a page 7 mint original from a rare book dealer and it shows no print error. So this is a quality control problem by Easton Press. The error is unacceptable at the price of this set. I have contacted Easton Press and I am the first to complain. I am asking for a reprint of Volume 1 or a rebate. Please contact Easton Press to voice your complaint at customerservice@eastonpress.com. If enough people complain, maybe they will fix the problem. Right now I am the only one.

Thanks George....please contact others you may know. I have reached 6 owners so far. By the way the original exists in MINT condition at a book dealer in Newburyport Massachusetts. This was the copy shown in the documentary the making of Les Miserables. It is for sale. I would not mind owning that beautiful copy.

Easton Press management called me today on this issue. They assure me it is not an EP quality problem. They went back to their original book and confirmed that the 1887 Routledge had this single printing error. They were not aware of the original 1886 edition without this error. They state they print these older sets "as is". There is nothing they can do about this when the error exists in the original source.

Yes, you should be aware this is their standard operating procedure. They do not reset or typset books. They are in the business of producing FACSIMILE copies of books they either own the copyright to or is out of copyright. The only design decisions EP makes is the cover. They don't correct anything on any book that has mistakes in it. That's because its a FACSIMILE. When EP says they are printing a specific edition of a book, that's exactly what it is, that exact edition. This is one major difference between EP and FS. FS designs and typesets all of their books unless it is specifically a facsimile edition.

Just out of curiosity, what did this set cost originally? I'm seeing them on Ebay for high 700s. Also, can someone tell me what translation is used? It seems it's the Hapgood translation, but I'd like to confirm.
