I've probably already read 50 books this year, but I'm just starting a list so I'll shooot for 100 by this time next year!

1. Mystic River by Dennis Lehane
Dark, brooding mystery about boyhood friends who grow up, then all have a share in another tragedy. Good read.

2. Reclaiming History: The assassination of President John F. Kennedy by Vincent Bugliosi
This is a HUGE book. It weighs too much to hold it up while you're reading. But it's well worth the effort if you're interested in the Kennedy assassination and/or all the conspiracy theories.

3. English Passengers by Matthew Kneale

4. The Book of Air and Shadows by Michael Gruber
I picked this one up by chance from the New Release shelf at the library. What a great find! I really enjoyed the story, even though some of it was pretty unbelievable. It was still a fun literary thriller.

5. The Old Patagonian Express by Paul Theroux
LOVE Theroux!

6. American Gods by Neil Gaiman
This was soooo not as good as I thought it would be.

7. The Vendetta: FBI Hero Melvin Purvis' War Against Crime and J. Edgar Hoover's War Against Him by Alston Purvis
The first half was really interesting. The second half ... not so much.

8. The Post-Birthday World
I didn't like this one. It was clever, but just a tad TOO clever.

9. Terra Incognita by Sara Wheeler
LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it.

10. Old Glory by Jonathan Raban
HATED, HATED, HATED it.

11. The Book of Fate by Brad Meltzer
Good thriller!

12. The Skystone by Jack Whyte
First in the Camulod Chronicles. I like this series. Would like to read all of them but they're kind of hard to find.

13. Uther by Jack Whyte
Another good one from the Camulod Chronicles. I'm having to read them out of sequence, though, so that kind of messes me up.

14. The Cabinet of Curiosities by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
Spooooooooky! I like it but I'm not sure I want to read more of these.

15. You're Lucky You're Funny by Phil Rosenthal
This is a great memoir/autobiography by the writer of "Everybody Loves Raymond." I was truly entertained and intrigued by the author's experiences.

16. The Happy Isles of Oceania by Paul Theroux
I'm totally jealous that Theroux gets to go off for months in a kayak and drop in on unsuspecting islanders. But I'm glad he writes about all his adventures.

17. The Beatles by Bob Spitz
Great read, even though it took me awhile to finish it.

18. The Stand by Stephen King
I was talked into this one by a friend who raved about the greatness of this epic tome. Frankly, it's one of my least favorite Stephen King books. Bottom line -- it's just too darn long. (And I read long books all the time, so it's not that. It just takes far too many pages to tell this particular story.)

19. Misdemeanor Man by Dylan Schaffer
Pretty good debut legal thriller. I like the obsession with Barry Manilow. Nice touch.

20. The Lay of the Land by Richard Ford
GREAT!

21. Cat on a Blue Monday by Carole Nelson Douglas
Another Midnight Louie mystery. These are really just one long story, but I still like them.

22. Mark Twain: A Life by Ron Powers
I love Ron Powers. I love this book. I love his other book about Hannibal, White Town Drowsing. Hometown boy makes good. It works every time.

23. Baseball Between the Numbers: Why Everything You Know About the Game is Wrong by Baseball Prospectus Team of Experts
This is an AWESOME book about the math of the game. Get it, read it, be overwhelmed by everything you don't know.

24. Word Freak; Heartbreak, Triumph, Genius and Obsession in the World of Competitive Scrabble Players by Stefan Fatsis
Good, yet somewhat disturbing peek into the world of professional Scrabble players. These people need day jobs.

25. Dreaming Pachinko by Isaac Adamson
Really intriguiging mystery set in modern Tokyo. Very odd, a little disturbing but also very compelling.

26. Triggerfish Twist by Tim Dorsey
You never know what will happen when Serge A. Storms is involved ...

27. Second Acts: Presidential Lives and Legacies After the White House by Mark K. Updegrove
Not as good as I thought it would be, but still worth reading.

28. Hurricane Punch by Tim Dorsey

29. Video Night in Kathmandu by Pico Iyer
A very trippy trip through Asia.
