Who Do You Think You Are?

Us UK dwellers are very lucky at the moment to be enjoying the third series of this awesome BBC programme. Each week it traces the ancestry of a well known British 'celeb' and presents the results in documentary form with the subject being gently led through their families ups and downs.
I've really enjoyed both episodes so far. I'll never forget Barbara Windsor's glee at finding the 'snobby' side of her family had actually been worse off than the others.
Last night it was fascinating to watch Robert Lindsay get drawn in to the story in such a personal way-and how unexpected to hear about the psycic/superstitious side to his nature.

Colin Jackson, former Olympic hurdler traced his ancestry last night. He started with a DNA test which showed 55% Sub-Saharan African, 38% European and 7% Native American. This made for a really interesting search mostly in Jamaica and Panama. It would have been nice if he'd followed up his Scottish forebears, but I suppose there's a limit to what you can cover in an hour's programme.
Next weeks research should be really easy. I presume David Tennant will just use the Tardis.

I wish that show would run in the states. My mother's people left Devon early for America around 1680 and migrated to the mountains of North Carolina where they stayed without moving for the next 250 years. A few years ago I took a vacation to Cornwall. While I was sitting around a tiny village's only pub on a Sunday night I looked around at a roomful of old people have a little beer and cocktails and realized they could have all passed for some of my mother's relatives.
