Should these have their own media type?
OK some are nothing more than pamphlets. But some are too large, too glossy to really be considered pamphlets.

Would sports programs be any different from theater, music. movie and ballet programs? Some of those come in large glossy editions too.
I personally would use pamphlet as most of them are under 48 pages.

No. "Pamphlet" has nothing to do with the size or sheen of the paper used. It's a binding type, referring to a single* signature stitched or stapled.
* there are those who allow up to three signatures stitched together to be called a pamphlet.

Pamphlet is also defined as having at least five but no more than 48 pages. Many programs will exceed that.

>6 PhaedraB: I think most of my theatre programmes have less than 48 pages unlike the opera programmes (more glossy ads for HNW individuals?) but I will keep that in mind.
