There are more of his books translated now, and if you have only read the Marquis of Bolibar I hope you will look for others. I think he is a wonderful, brilliant, underappreciated writer. I would love to hear the ideas of others about his books.

This thread has been dormant for almost 2 years, but it might be worthwhile to get it moving again.
The only Perutz I have read is The Master of the Day of Judgement, in an old Boni paperback, with a cover either by Rockwell Kent or one of his imitators. I don't recall the book too well, but I believe it was a sort of metaphysical mystery centered on a possible suicide. Perhaps set in Vienna in the first decade of the 20th century.
I'd be interested in hearing comments on some of Perutz's other books.
