Janis Martin, one of the great rockabillt stars from the 1950s (and from Virginia - my home state) died last week at the too-young age of 67. She was billed, per the consent of her RCA label mate as "the female Elvis." She was, though, a great talent in her own right - and a listen to "Drug Store Rock and Roll", Will You Willyum", etc., will prove it so. Happily, she returned to the stage in 1982 and enjoyed nearly 20 years of the appreciation she was due.
