Combining tags: German lit., German literature, Lit. German, etc

I have seen that the different Brit Lit tags have all been combined but it seems there isn't a way for me to combine the different German Literature tags. Is this some automatical process? Would be nice to be able to see what other people have tagged German lit/Lit. Germany/Literature: Germany and so on. Likewise for all the other "literatures"
