I *love* the Dark is Rising series, and as soon as I saw that the movie took the story out of Wales (hello?!?!) I knew I wouldn't even bother seeing it. My mom did go, and said it was just as bad as I'd thought it would be. What a shame - with Harry Potter doing so well and the Golden Compass about to come out the timing would have been perfect for a GOOD adaptation.

I was so excited to hear that The Dark is Rising was being made into a film; it was one of my first and favorite books in the fantasy genre when I was young. But I heard this interview with Susan Cooper on NPR and it made me despair - now I'm not sure I'll even go see the film.
