...Jose Mourinho: Simply the Best?

I will be amazed if there is anyone in LT who loves Mourinho more than he loves himself!

That said I'll miss his 'charm' and wit on the Match of the Day post game interviews.

To me Mourinho is just a despicable character as is Abramovich... So no tears shed there.
I actually came to sympathise with Chelsea when one of my fave players, Zola, went there. But those where the old good bad days ;-)

The EPL will be a much less interesting place without Mourinho, he added a but of fizz to the competition. People seem to forget that before he arrived all we got was Ferguson and Wenger having petty arguments, both of whom are more despicable than Mourinho. That doesn't stop any of them being top coaches though, it may even help.

Re the whole money situation - Chelsea didn't win the league just because of the money, they won it because Mourinho built a real team. Chelsea may have been the biggest spenders over the last 5 years but the next two are Man Utd and Liverpool, then Newcastle and Spurs, and look how much they have won. I didn't see anyone complaining when Man U spent £60m and Liverpool spent £36m this close season, far more than Chelsea.

Jargoneer - absolutely, he was great entertainment, especially when Chelsea lost - Abramovich is the one that gets to me, a yacht with it's own submarine??
Ferguson and Wenger are single-minded, ruthless and on occasion, as paranoid as Mourinho. I'm must say I don't despise any of them. George Graham, Grahame Souness, David O'Leary on the other hand....

(edited for a typo)

Maybe I should have added "despicable /because he agreed to get bought by mob boss like Abramovich/"?
Because that's how I view it.

There's a lot of coaches I don't particularly care for. I'll give Mourinho that the understands football. But that doesn't mean I have to like him...
Same with a lot of others, but I didn't intend to write down a complete list ;-)

It seems to me that Mourinho, Ferguson and Wenger have all acted the same way at times, using paranoia to create a them and us mentality which helped build team solidarity. I'm sure Benitez would do the same but he changes 'us' every week making it impossible.

Agreed. It's the simplest way to achieve this.
In the team that I manage I try to create a "work for each other and have fun" mentality. But then we're far from being professionals ;-)
