Post suggestions of books, film, tv, music which involves hotels in some way.
Book: The Haunted Hotel by Willie Collins
Read this recently. Excellent novella concerning a sudden death and a disappearing servant at a house in Venice, which is subsequently turned into a hotel.
Film: ' The Night Porter'. Charlotte Rampling recognizes Dirk Bogarde as a concentration camp commandant.
Book/Film: The Shining by Stephen King
Filmed twice because King disliked Stanley Kurbick's take on this story. Yet to see second version.
Book: The Hotel New Hampshire by John Irving, perhaps my favourite novel.

Motels and any other variations are fine..
Psycho by Robert Bloch, inspired not only the Hitchcock film but 'Psycho II (1983), Psycho III (1986), Gus Van Sant's remake in 1998. And the television series Bates Motel.
Robert Bloch himself wrote a second book Psycho 2, which I read a long time ago. Different to the film, which wanted Norman Bates more centre stage, but interesting. Robert Bloch is one of those writers you always plan to read more, but never seem to get around too.
