For those of you who have read Making Money already:
What is the answer to the crossword in the footnotes
on page 346?? I'm going crazy....
Pratchett is going to be in town on Wednesday,
luckily (Beaverton, OR/ Making Money Tour), and
I'd like to have him sign it...
Nine letters, "Shaken players shift the load"...
Any help would be very appreciated!

It's page 308, actually. I'm afraid I'm not much good at cryptic clues, though.

Well, I've just finished it too and have no clue as to what the clue refers but I do know a little about cryptics. (TP is a massive crossword fan, hence or as a result of his awesome vocabulary) The definition in a cryptic is always either the first or last word(s) so in this case it might be "shaken" or "load". (Or "shift the load" possibly) However shaken usually denotes an anagram which would be of players. I'll ponder some more...

The answer is "Carthorse".
The members of an orchestra play instruments. Shake around the letters of orchestra for the anagram cart horse. Cart horses shift loads.
