I hadn't read the Newbery books since I was littler (I'm only 18 now, but still...) but I just recently read Criss Cross. I thought it was pretty terrible. Like one of those books which is written just so the author can win awards :/ All of the author's attention was focused on the pretentious style of her story instead of on anything else, especially plot.

"She wished something would happen" Yeah, well so did I!

I'm finding that I often prefer the Honor books to the medal winners...
