I'm not much good at these challenges but I love trying. I am currently listening to the 5th Wave and I am becoming very disappointed in it. I can't take the part where they switch to the 5 year old point of view perhaps if i was reading and not listening it wouldnt be so bad. I think ill check it out of the library. It is weird listening to a grown man trying to talk like such a young kid (I have no idea why this bothers me!) So I am debating on getting my credit back from audible and trying a different book but I can't figure out what!

I am excited for a new year! My oldest boy is turning 5 years old and still has speech issues that we are working on with a speech therapist. He had to get tubes in his ears and his tonsils and adenoids out. My youngest is already turning 1!!! I can't believe u am about to have a toddler on my hands again! His so nosey compared to my oldest son that I have to keep an extra eye on him.

Hope everyone else is having a wonderful new years.

Welcome back, Melissa!

I have issues with some audio book readers, too, so don't worry about it.

Thanks!

I listen to them when I clean so I like a soothing voice. :)

I listen while I clean, craft, sew, drive... And I'm very particular about the reader!

>6 mellymel171328: Well, I recently finished listening to Hattie Big Sky, which was really, really good. Think Little House on the Prairie with attitude...
Oh, and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has an excellent reader, too, and the story is amazing.

>12 mellymel171328: Love looking at the pics of your boys! What beautiful blue eyes they have. It brings back so many good memories of mine. My older son just turned 14 and my younger son will be turning 11 in a couple of months. It seems like it has gone soooooo fast. I have been reading to them almost every night since they were born and we still continue this several nights a week - all three of us look forward to it. The books have changed quite a bit, but it is still a special time for us and I love to hear the boys say "Do we have time to read tonight?"

>15 rretzler: I love that you still read to your boys! Gives me hope that Charlie will still let me read to him as he grows older.

Yep this is going to be another horrible year for book reading. I am currently going through a divorce and I am just desperately trying to keep my head up high.

>18 scaifea: sadly it just one of those things that happens. We were married 6 years March 17th and his already has a new woman (started before he left the house.) One thing I have come to realize I had deserved so much more from my marriage for years. So if his happy more power to him but I am going to stop chasing after someone who hasn't been there for a lot longer then I realized. As I realized he very literally ... you know how you change a job you find the new one first? He did that but with relationships. I am beautiful, strong, and I have my boys. :)

>22 drneutron: Thank you all. I was hoping 2016 would of been better. I tried to get my GED to distract myself because I want to go into pre-med in a few years. He won't give me the car on the days I need to get it and thinks I am unreasonable for being mad for wanting the car we bought together just twice a week.

SO much has happened since I was able to last check in. Me and the husband are working on things and things seem very positive. Hoping to get back into reading once things truly settle down. My oldest graduated Pre-K but is going to repeat because he is still a little behind.

I hadn't realized things were rough for you! I'm sorry. It is good that things seem to be improving, I hope that continues. Your boys look so sweet, Samuel is the same age as my Lenny (which you might remember). Lenny starts school in about 5 weeks, they keep it very low key here in NZ with new-entrants. The classrooms are set up like kindergartens, and if the wee ones fall asleep no one minds. It is lovely.

>25 LovingLit: how are things for Lenny school year? Sam is on his 8th week of school and has been doing so well. Liam is starting to use words which has been so much fun especially when I hear Sam and Liam trying to communicate.haha I am now an auntie! He was born Sept 18th and his names Colson!

We are having some car issues but since it's used but less then a year old we are going to get it checked out at the dealership.

Wouldn't it be nice if 2017 was a year of peace and goodwill.
A year where people set aside their religious and racial differences.
A year where intolerance is given short shrift.
A year where hatred is replaced by, at the very least, respect.
A year where those in need are not looked upon as a burden but as a blessing.
A year where the commonality of man and woman rises up against those who would seek to subvert and divide.
A year without bombs, or shootings, or beheadings, or rape, or abuse, or spite.

2017.

Festive Greetings and a few wishes from Malaysia!
