From some of the threads pertaining to books by Heinlein, it appears that we should have a group read-and-evisceration (as is usual with Heinlein books, heh-heh) of his Hugo-winning Double Star (1956, Best Novel).
Double Star is fairly easy to track down in used book stores if you don't already have it; it's been reprinted in paperback quite regularly.
Chime in if you're interested and in a few weeks (around November 1st) we'll commence with the mayhem.

Forgot to dig mine out yesterday, but I'll find it next weekend (away weekdays). Can't remember when I last read it, but it must be at least 10 years ago...

I would be interested! I was perusing the Starship Troopers thread (I belong to the group that watched the movie, read the book, and did not feel a strong moral outrage - not that my views fall in line with Heinlein's.)
I will go request it from the library now!

Note to self: if I hate this, hold onto it until November anyway.
Ok, got it.

Great response! I've got to find *my* copy now, I guess.
It will be very interesting to see what the 'conclusions' about this book will be... Double Star is not exactly 'typical'. Heh-heh.

No..we have a few weeks to chase down copies, and then on Nov. 1st we'll be off to the races. As soon as everyone is done (another week or two) we'll settle in for the autopsy.

Well, I found my copy and couldn't wait... so I reread the first half last night.
Mildly interesting fact: My copy was printed in 1976, and going by how I wrote my name in it, I bought it before 1978. So its 30 years since I first read it; its still a good read!
Now going off to check on language types (just in case RAH didn't do good research).

I'm ready myself.. in a couple days I'll start the Group Already Read thread.

I have the serial version in Astounding SF, but have never read it. Maybe I'll sit down and read it over the next few days.
