Not all of her books belong in TBSL lovely category but some do. She is what I call a kind author - she is kind to her characters - even those that behave badly. She wrote light romances that are pretty good studies of certain types of characters. I have to admit that they did not start off with two one of my favorites, but I am hoping they will get around to those and to some of her titles that simply are not available (except at enormous price) in used copies - Brimstone in the Garden, Consider the Lilies and The Blue Sky of Spring come to mind here.

They date a little bit, but I own many of them and as I re-read them, they seem to grow on me.

So far in Kindle I see:
The Fledgling

I have heard that an unpublished book has been found as well.

I went looking on Amazon UK to see if there were more titles - the e-mail I got mentioned 3 titles - and found NONE. Same for Amazon in Canada. Boo!

ETC: how embarrassing, included a book by DES, not Elizabeth Cadell.
ETA: UK & Canada info

More info - apparently 53 titles will be published, first in Kindle format, then supposedly, hardcover. I am thinking that the hardcover will be dependent upon Kindle sales. The Fledgling cover is cute.

I was very excited when I saw this on Facebook today, then disappointed when I discovered that they weren't available in Canada. Hopefully they come soon. The Corner Shop is my favourite, and it is one of the ones that is supposed to be reissued. I have it in hardcover, but I would buy a ebook, too. I can't recall having read The Cuckoo in Spring, and I think I liked the fledgling. It sounded like they were planning to put all the books out eventually, but it will probably depend on how much interest there is.

Hmm. Apparently they are supposed to be available worldwide. I'll have to keep checking.

I didn't see it earlier, but I just snagged The Corner Shop!

The Corner Shop is up in the US.

Snagged Cuckoo in Spring this morning. It shares the involvement of paintings with The Corner Shop.

That one is available here, too.

Your Sweetie has some good ideas!

>11 SylviaC: Good news.

Yes, he does.

Oh, grump. Do NOT read the blurb for Cuckoo in Spring if you have not already read the book.

One thing I did read is that these are unabridged and apparently later addictions of he books were abridged. That makes these reprints even more interesting.

Maybe skip the blurbs if you haven't read them though. The one for Cuckoo in Spring....

Oops. I did read the blurb, and thought it sounded awful, so I just hoped it was inaccurate. The covers are good, though, actually being relevant to the books.

>13 SylviaC: Darn. Now I want to go to Amazon and white it out. I could come up with a much better blurb. And I really, really wish I could erase that from your memory. Not a hope. Oh, well. It is a cute Elizabeth Cadell book, nonetheless. Not great literature by any means...

The Lark Shall Sing! Very excited. It is The Blue Sky of Spring entry in the Waynes of Woodmont that I don't have, though.

These 4 books are now on Kobo.

Journey's Eve is the latest. I have this title as Crystal Clear. Typical Elizabeth Cadell - somewhat clueless, somewhat self-centered, but ultimately very kind male and serene, beloved-by-those-who-know-her female. Wonderful supporting characters. Somewhat goofy plot. Okay, maybe a lot goofy in this case, but becomes less improbable in the end (well, mostly). To me, one of her less formulaic ones (despite previous comments). Recommended if you need help in believing that there are in fact, good, unselfish people in this world who are lots of fun to read about, but only if the plot summary doesn't have you heading rapidly for the hills ( a slow jog might be okay).

All 3 Waynes of Woodmont are out, too. They are among her most popular books (although, oddly enough, not here on LibraryThing) and her only series.

Sorry for all the comments in parens, too tired to fix.

The first Wayne book still isn't available at Amazon Canada, but the other two are. I think someone is looking into it. I do have The Lark Shall Sing in hardcover and really like it, but I haven't read the others.

I read Crystal Clear from Open Library. I think I'd place it in the middle of her works—some are better and some are worse. The supporting characters are often the best parts of her books.

The Greenwood Shady - also known as Brimstone in the Garden. This is a new title for me! Excited.

The Lark Shall Sing is finally available in Canada, so I just bought all three Wayne books. I'll get The Greenwood Shady when it is available here—I haven't read it yet.

Iris in Winter should be up on Amazon US now. I might buy it eventually, but didn't care enough for it to reread any time soon.

Shadows on the Water should be up soon. That is one of my favorites. I just realized it'd be spoilerish to say why, though.

>21 MDGentleReader: I haven't read that one either.

The Friendly Air, Canary Yellow, and The Yellow Brick Road are supposed to be the next ones up, and Sugar Candy Cottage should be soon, too. I've never seen Sugar Candy Cottage anywhere, so I'm looking forward to it in particular.

>23 MDGentleReader: Sugar Candy Cottage holds a special place in my heart because my Dad took the trouble to find it for me. Otherwise, some unpleasant (although well-drawn) characters and some behavior that gave me the creeps, but an ending in proper Elizabeth Cadell style. Lady Grantly (The Friendly Air)! I like Canary Yellow better on re-reads, for some reason. Parts of The Yellow Brick Road disturb me at times, but I love the goat, especially carved.

Sugar Candy Cottage is available now.

The Lark Shall Sing and The Corner Shop available in audio now.

I just bought The Lark Shall Sing on Audible for $1.99. I don't know if this is a general sale price, of just because I already had the e-book from Amazon.

>28 MDGentleReader: I think they're right up to date on Amazon Canada, though I haven't done a title by title comparison. They're certainly keeping ahead of what I can read.

I'm really impressed with how steadily the books have been coming out. There are several that I have never seen available anywhere else.

There are quite a few I've never seen or heard of. I'm reading blurbs in case they've been retitled (or reverted to original titles, I suppose).

>30 Linkmeister:, Thanks for the link linkmeister!

I am awaiting Men & Angels. I THINK I have read all the others. It turns out The Frenchman and the Lady is Enter Mrs. Belchamber.
