I've been on a whaler in the middle of a radioactive sea and a war in the beginning The Atomic Sea series by Jack Conner. Fun Steampunk romp with horror/weird elements, so far. Similar wider-known universes would probably be those of the Dishonored videogame or China MiƩville's Bas-Lag.

I'm in the the Druid castle Paranor, with the new Druid Walker Boh, in The Talismans of Shannara (The Heritage of Shannara Series) by Terry Brooks.

I'm in California with Borderline: The Arcadia Project by Mishell Baker. Picked it up and just intended to read a page or two, but now I'm 200 pages in.

London with The Severed Streets. It is different from the first one and started very slow but is picking up.

I haven't been the mood for reading recently, so I'm trying to tempt myself back with some lighter reading. I started with a collection of Jeeves and Wooster stories and now I'm reading Unseen Academicals, the footballing Discworld book.

Wrapped up my read of Spirit Gate... took me longer than I'd have liked, but it wasn't so actively bad that I felt justified in stopping mid-book. Not sure if I'll continue it or jump to one of her more well-thought-of works.

Next up is a "really should've read this by now" title, with The Steerswoman. Much more enjoyable read, so far.

Now that The Buried Symbol is released, I'm working in final changes to The Emblem Throne (book 2) while my brain is tying the all of the threads together for book 3. I wish I could read, but I'm so deeply entrenched within Issalia at the moment, I can't get out.

Wonderful. Maybe next time you can tell us that without advertising your books. :)

I have just left Surebleak and the Dragon in Exile, and I am now in Caithe with a surprisingly self-destructive princess who is possibly hearing the Call of Madness.

Sorry if it came across that way. It is merely the world that I am entrenched within at the moment. I'll not include my own books on this thread if it is outside of the intent.

I was in Oxford, London, and a few other stops around England in Smoke: a novel earlier this week. Now I'm in Boston at the moment but all over the US throughout the book in In Shining Armor.

I finished Borderline: The Arcadia Project by Mishell Baker in a day and a half. It was incredible. Fantastic characters, and a very interesting take on the fae.

I also finished The Jewel and Her Lapidary by Fran Wilde and didn't enjoy it at all. For under 100 pages, it was a slog. Didn't connect with the characters or really enjoy the setting or the story.

I'm currently jumping to several locations around Fantasyland following numerous legends in Legends II: Dragon, Sword, and King. The first legend is of The Sworn Sword which has a graphic novel adaptation.

Spending some time in Liavek, with a re-read of the first book.

I read several of these back in the day, and it's one of my absolute favorite fantasy settings, overall (I love the worldbuilding with the idea of birth luck and the dangers/rewards of investing it, and places like the Tiger's Eye or Wizard's Row have just always been really evocative for me)... but I haven't actually revisited them in a long time.

well, I'm back from the University and patrick rothfuss. I lost motivation towards the end, which isn't a good sign :-) I am going on holiday now, leaving fantasyland behind, and tackling some other types of writing, not sure what just now. Thanks everyone! I will lurk about to keep up with what you're reading, it's really interesting. Fare well!

In The Land, with the four books in The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, by Stephen Donaldson . Lots of fighting going on in these novels, makes me think a tough day at my work maybe wasn't so bad after all.

I finished listening to Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost and narrated by Tavia Gilbert. Pretty interesting story and amazing narration. I would listen to anything by Tavia.

>23 EAEowyn:, I was disappointed with those final four, but they have their moments. The jury will be forever out on whether book 6 or 10 is the better finale.

Reading The Colour of Magic, and after picking it up with fairly low expectations (many Discworld fans seem quick to warn that it's not a great entry) I'm blown away so far. A fine mixture of hilarity and smarts.

I finished reading The Heir of Night by Helen Lowe which is a really interesting start to an epic fantasy. It is pretty much a traditional epic fantasy, but it has just a few science fiction elements to it which I find really exciting. The book has a couple minor flaws, it drags a little in parts and there are a couple of times when people are either needlessly stubborn or just a bit too precocious, but on the whole I really enjoyed it. I want to find time to read the rest of the series. I think it has a lot of promise!

About to start The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi Okorafor.
