Have you ever noticed in used book stores that there are a lot of Richard Laymon books? This past week I have been in several and they rival Stephen King books (on the shelf).
Now, I can understand the big sellers -- their books are ubiquitous -- but Laymon? Interesting . . .

Scaryguy, I've been thinking on that one.
I wonder if it's just because he was so prolific and Leisure books have been reissuing his books at two a year.
Maybe when people are browsing past Stephen King and Dean Koontz (what's up with touchstones not working on very popular authors?) they see all those Richard Laymon books and decide that he must be pretty good to have that much in print?
Also, if you aren't the type to keep every book you buy, he is exactly the kind of 'junk food' author you might pick up for some quick thrills and then sell to a used bookstore.
Those are my guesses anyway. I do have a LOT of Laymon books myself. If you're in to horror stories he gets a lot of good buzz from some established names. I think he's Leisure's biggest selling author.

Funny. Last night I went to Half Price Books and picked up copies of Bite an The Travelling Vampire Show from the big Richard Laymon selection they had. (I already had these books, but these were first printings in pretty good shape, and hey, the price was right.)
The amount of Laymon books on hand was something like the amount of King, Koontz and Saul books.
