This is something I thought I might share here: Comixtribe, the publisher behind C is for Cthulhu, have made pdf copies of that book available on their website, in exchange for a working email address. It's an alphabet book centred on the Cthulhu Mythos. The text leaves something to be desired, IMHO, but the illustrations are lovely. From what I gather, the book is the result of a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with the authors or with the publisher; I'm merely sharing a freebie I happened to come across. If I have violated guidelines on advertising and the like, well, there's a red flag for that, and I'll be happy to delete the contents of this post.

Thanks! That in indeed a fun little freebie (although I agree, the text itself is quite clumsy).

I actually liked the prose, along with the illustrations: first, the apparent HPL quotes for each entry, perhaps most of all for avoiding any cutesy, sing-songy rhymes. It works much better than I anticipated!

ETA Okay, now I've read more carefully, the quotations are not always HPL quotes. But they are never sing-songy, so they still work for me.

I kind of wish it had had rhymes.

But it was great.

Yeah, the illustrations are cute, but I think silly couplet doggerel rhymes - or at least something with meter - would go better with the whole alphabet book parody shtick than the quotes they chose.

Well, I've gotten two advertising e-mails from them in the last few days, so I just unsubscribed. Sigh....

Yeah, me too but too lazy to unsubscribe. I have a lot of that sort of traffic, and it gets shuffled into trash regularly though on occasion I get something of interest. The main criterion for me is: will I learn about it in another way, or is there likely to be anything of interest? If either answer is NO, then I unsubscribe.
