Were you surprised to find out Simon's mother was Veronica Eliot?

When he told Vera that his name was Simon Eliot...I thought he was Veronica's son. Somehow I had pictured Veronica being nicer than Simon's mother.

I didn't at first. I remembered the name, Veronica, but hadn't paid too much attention to her last name so didn't make the connection.

I did fit the last name with Veronica and knew his mother would not accept Jennie's daughter so readily.

This was a surprise to me, I didn't pick up in that at first.

I picked up on the name straight away. Not too many Veronicas about! : )

I read chapters too far apart so didn't make the connection. Heck, I couldn't even remember who Veronica was and had to go back and reread. I should know with Cleeves that every character is important.
