Do you think the thefts were set up to try to get rid of Lisa? Or is that a bit extreme?

That's a round about way to go about it. Especially when it seems that all her co-workers are so intent on making life difficult for her. Since the thefts started with Danny's arrival, maybe it's someone trying to get rid of Danny. Have to give that one some more thought also.

I don't know - is this just the deputy manager trying to kid himself? Avoiding having to make a management decision while his boss is away?

An interesting thought, but my money is still on Danny.

I don't think it's Lisa but that's just a feeling. Her character in the book doesn't seem significant enough.
