Is the way Vera is as a result of the way she was treated by her father?

I would imagine a lot of Vera's issues of self-worth stem from her upbringing. Hector did not have many nice things to say to his daughter. Not a loving father, that's for certain.

I think there are a combination of reasons why Vera is the way she is:

1. Her mother died when she was young.

2. The way her father treated her.

3. Her weight which is a direct result from 1 and 2.

She was emotionally abused her whole life. I feel so sorry for her. She could do a lot to improve herself and that would help her self esteem issues. Buy some new clothes and get a pedicure for goodness sakes!

Eadie, I think 2 is the most significant. He said some horrible things to her. Sounds like she was emotionally abused during her formative years by her father.

Vera's personality was formed by all of the things you have mentioned. I wish Ann would be kinder to Vera. Don't give Vera any cheesecake. I'll bring her a salad.

I can almost hear what Vera would say to that Carol!

>7 Andrew-theQM: She probably would rather have a stottie with pease pudding:)

There may be a few bleeps about the salad too!
