Are we getting a better picture as to how Vera works in this book?

Yes I think Ann is giving us a good idea. I think in the last book, Vera figured the murderer out and it seemed like completely out of the blue but I think we can see her style and thought process better in this novel.

This is a very good description of Vera's thought process.

This one is definitely more character based - as a result of the TV series, I feel.

Yes the tv aspect seems to have improved these books for the better. They now have a much more detective feel about them.

I agree with you all. We are getting better insight into Vera's thought processes.

While I would agree that the T.V. series has improved the characterization, the writing style has change for me and I enjoy that a bit less.

It certainly has a different feel from the first book.
