Why did you think Connie had suddenly disappeared?

I thought Connie was afraid to be implemented in the murder or she was afraid that the murderer would come after her and possibly harm her or Alice.

I thought that she perhaps just wanted to get away from all the drama and maybe escape Veronica's attentions at the same time.

Don't know, but seems fishy... Connie was more than willing to help the police up to now, so why the sudden departure? Perhaps she did receive a threatening phone call? If she was just going away for a few days, I'd have thought she'd contact the police to let them know.
