Matthew 12.32
Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the spirit will not be forgiven.

Mark 3.28
Truly, I say to you, all will be forgiven to the sons of men, sins and blasphemies which they will blaspheme, but whoever would blaspheme unto the holy spirit does not have forgiveness in the age

Luke 12.10
but to the one who blasphemes the holy spirit it will not be forgiven

There are subtle differences in Matthew and Luke compared to Mark. Suggesting perhaps a Q source and a Mark source. And of course the contexts are different in all gospels.

What do you make of this hard saying? And what do you make of how each gospel writer uses the saying?

We tend to read Trinitarian theology into the passages? Is it possible that the gospel writers did not understand the Trinity? Might the holy spirit in these verses not be capitalized? might holy spirit here not be intended to refer to the third person?
