I personally think they should. But I can see why they aren't. It's a sad indictment of society that the fear is these places of 'sanctuary' would be vulnerable to theft or vandalism if left open.
The irony is that 'Christianity' is supposedly dwindling, yet the churches are becoming less accessible. You can't have it both ways...

I would wholeheartedly agree, churches should be open but a very sad indictment that they cannot be left open.

I agree with you too. I live in a very safe little town but the churches are now closed because of vandalism.

Same here. A troubled soul should be able to find a place of contemplation when in need. I don't understand vandalism.

Churches used to be open all the time... especially Catholic churches. Society has changed...not necessarily progressed but changed...so I can understand why most are locked now when not attended. Doesn't say much for our society as a whole.
